Contempt of court petition treated as closed

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Justice M. Jeyapaul of the Madras High Court on Thursday treated as closed a contempt of court petition against the Kancheepuram district Superintendent of Police. The petition, filed by L. Dhandapani of Vadanemillie off Mamallapuram, alleged that the Superintendent of Police, K. Periaiah, flouted a court order to provide police protection to him and his family members.

After a notice issued, the SP and the Inspector of Police, Mamallapuram, Veliyappan, appeared before the court.

Mr. Justice Jeyapaul said as the petitioner and his family members were now enjoying security, the court found that the petition could be treated as closed.
