Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram: Practitioners and advocates of free software from across the world are expected to participate in the international conference titled ‘Free Software, Free Society’ to be held here from December 9 to 11 under the auspices of the Government of Kerala. Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs M. Vijayakumar inaugurated a website for the conference at a function held here on Thursday. The website— www.fsfs.in, will provide the details on the conference. Richard M Stallman, founder of the Free Software Movement; Jimmy Wales, founder of Wikipedia; Eben Moglen, Free Software legal expert; Prof. Felipe Perez Martin, former Minister of Planning, Venezuela; Robert Verzola, campaigner for sustainable agriculture and NIIBE Yukata, chairman of the Free Software Initiative of Japan are among those are expected to take part in the conference. The conference is being organised by the Kerala State Information Technology Mission (KSITM) and SPACE (Society for Promotion of Alternative Computing and Employment).
