Sports hostel trainees dominate

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports hostel trainees hogged the limelight on the opening day of the State schools aquatics meet at the Water Works swimming pool here on Thursday.

Sports hostels trainees set six of the seven records that were set on the first day.

The records were set by Mathew Abraham (SAI Thrissur in senior boys’ 50m butterfly), S.S. Sujthmon (CSH, Thrissur in 200m breaststroke), S. Arun (CSH, Nanniyode in sub-junior boys’ 200m breaststroke), M.S. Sreelal (CSH, Nanniyode in junior boys’ 50m butterfly), Centralised Sports Hostel Thrissur (senior boys’ 4x100m medley relay) and M. Jyothi (CSH Thrissur in junior girls’ 50m butterfly).

The lone record in the general school category was set by Anandakrishnan in sub-junior boys’ 50m butterfly.

Thiruvananthapuram education district leads the points table with 82 points followed by Attingal (55) and Aluva (40).
