Three youths steal gold coins in Pallavaram

TAMBARAM: A jeweller in Pallavaram was tricked and robbed of gold coins weighing 220 grams, worth about Rs.2.50 lakh, by three youths on Wednesday morning.

The Pallavaram police said the youths came to the shop of Lalith Kumar on Indira Gandhi Road in Pallavaram and asked salesmen to show gold coins.

The salesmen obliged and gave a box of gold coins and the youths were reported to have stolen a few coins on the pretext of checking them. They left the shop, saying that they would come later.

When the salesmen kept the box in its place, they noticed gold coins weighing 220 grams worth Rs.2.5 lakh missing.

The shop-owner has lodged a complaint with the police.
