Candidate’s husband arrested
NEW DELHI: The estranged husband of an independent candidate for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections was arrested at Shakarpur in the Capital’s trans-Yamuna area on Thursday for allegedly inducing her to withdraw her candidature against monetary considerations.
Yashoda Rani is contesting the Laxmi Nagar seat. On Thursday afternoon, her husband Kalka Prasad, who had got separated from her eight years ago, arrived at her residence along with some men and women and tried to persuade her to withdraw her nomination. He allegedly offered her money on behalf of another candidate in the race and promised her more after she withdrew her nomination.
