Priest arrested for abduction of girl in Tiruvarur

TIRUVARUR: Victor Raj, a priest of a church in Tiruthuraipoondi in Tiruvarur district, was arrested by the police on Wednesday on the charge of kidnapping a girl.

He was produced before the Tiruthuraipoondi magistrate who remanded him to 15 days judicial custody.

A large number of cadres belonging to Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam observed a fast near the municipal office here on Thursday urging the Tamil Nadu Government and the Centre to protect the lives of Tamils in Sri Lanka.
