PIL on better policing dismissed

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has dismissed a public interest litigation by an advocate seeking better policing in the Capital for night-shift employees, particularly women, working here and in the National Capital Region.

Dismissing the petition by Sanjiv Kumar Singh, a Division Bench comprising Justice A. P. Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar said it was a frivolous plea with no specific public interests to serve.

The Bench also criticised the tendency among people to file frivolous petitions observing that the public interest litigation had become a maligned judicial remedy.
