DMO asks officials to redress the grievances of farmers Reviews the construction of second Samathuvapuram in Bargur Town Panchayat KRISHNAGIRI: District Monitoring Officer C. Muthukumarasamy advised farmers to build houses and live on the two acres of land allotted to them by the State Government. Mr. Muthukumarasamy was here to monitor the progress of various welfare schemes undertaken by the district administration. He also had a meeting with Collector V.K. Shanmugam and other officials during his two-day stay. Interactive sessionHe also participated in a marathon interactive session on Monday. Later, he visited Kanchanur village in Uthangarai Block where 20 acres of land was given to ten families. He advised farmers there to fence their lands to keep wild animals away. InspectionHe inspected Uzhavar Sandhai and verified whether ID cards, registers and price lists were kept and maintained properly. He listened to the problems of farmers and instructed officials to redress their grievances. He visited an anganwadi centre in Krishnagiri municipality campus and enquired the children about the quantity and the quality of the food provided. He told the workers there to ensure cleanliness. He also went to Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Denkanikottai, Sericulture Assistant Director’s Office and a fair price shop in Anniyalam village for assessment. He identified a women’s toilet, which was not used for long time, to be cleaned for the benefit of village women. Mr. Muthukumarasamy also inspected the Adi Dravida students’ hostel and exhorted the students to study well. InformationHe also inspected Pochampalli and Denkanikottai Tahsildhar Offices and verified how many petitions were received and rejected for the two acre free patta land and the reasons for rejecting them. He also wanted to know if the grounds for the rejection were informed to the petitioner in a proper way. Later he reviewed the construction of second Samathuvapuram at Sekkilnatham village in Bargur Town Panchayat and instructed the contractor to finish the work on time. InstructionsHe then inspected the de-salting works at Sekkilnatham lake, which are being carried out at a cost of Rs. 3.5 lakhs, and checked the attendance and wages registers. He also instructed officials to maintain the records properly and to not give anyone a reason for complaint. Other officialsDistrict Collector V.K. Shanmugam, District Revenue Officer S. Nagarajan, Project Officer ,DRDA, C.K. Veeranan accompanied him during his inspections.
