Mangled remains: The ill-fated vehicle which was involved in an accident near Kacheepuram on Wednesday. — KANCHEEPURAM: Two persons were killed and three others injured in a road accident at Kilambi near here in the early hours on Wednesday. According to police, the accident took place around 3 a.m. when a group of persons from Sirukaveripakkam were returning in a car after calling on a patient who had been admitted in the Primary Health Centre at Baluchettychatram on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway. The deceased persons, Venkatesan and Annamalai, and injured persons, Raghu, Sundar and Ponnurangam, were all hailing from Sirukaveripakkam. They went to the Primary Health Centre on Tuesday night and remained there until the condition of their relative became stable. After ascertaining the condition of the patient, they left the hospital premises around 2-45 p.m. While they were crossing Kilambi, their car rammed a stationary goods carrier, killing Venkatesan on the spot and Annamalai was declared dead on arrival at the Government District Headquarters Hospital, Kancheepuram. The injured persons were admitted at the hospital. The Baluchettychatram police have registered a case.
