Chennai: Mohammad Naseeruddin scored a brace as Madurai recorded a 3-0 win over Nilgiris in the first quarterfinal of the T.P. Ramaswamy Cup inter-district under-19 football tournament here on Wednesday. Another star performer was Jackson, who scored a hat-trick in Tuticorin’s 6-1 hammering of Krishnagiri in a pre-quarterfinal game. The results: Quarterfinals: Madurai 3 (Sundaresan, Mohammad Naseeruddin 2) bt Nilgiris 0. Pre-quarterfinals: Tiruchi 5 (Hari Shanmuga Sundaresan, Saravana Kumar, Tamim Ansari, Selvakumar 2) bt Thanjavur 1 (Bhaskar); Tuticorin 6 (Karuppusamy, Jackson 3, Saravana Kumar 2) bt Krishnagiri 1 (Satish Kumar); Chennai 4 (Mukesh 2, Ramkumar, Akilan) bt Kanyakumari 1 (Ponraj).
