Narayanan Award for Madhavan Nair

KOCHI: G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), has won the K. R. Narayanan Award instituted by the K. R. Narayanan Foundation.

Mr. Nair was selected for the award for his outstanding contributions to the country’s scientific and technological research.

The award committee observed that the ISRO Chairman was successful in elevating India’s name in the world arena through the Chandraayan project. Mr. Nair played a key role in the mission, it said.

The award consists of a citation and plaque.

It will be distributed at a function to be held in Thiruvananthapuram during the first week of January. The award committee comprised K. Narayanakurup, former Acting Chief Justice of Madras High Court; N.M. Joseph, former Minister; and A. T. Devasia, former Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University.
