We will win more seats this time: Chauhan

Ratlam (MP): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Wednesday said that the discontent in BJP over ticket distribution had withered away and asserted that the ruling party will win more seats in this Assembly polls as compared to December 2003.

“There is no discontent or internal bickering in the party now over selection of candidates for the polls. Those denied tickets expressed their anger but did not commit any indiscipline,” Mr. Chauhan told reporters here.

He said their anger was right because they knew that the party will retain power by securing more seats.

“All such ninety-nine per cent people are working for the party now,” he added.

In 2003 Assembly polls, the BJP had won 173 seats out of 230. To a question, he said the State Tourism Minister Tukoji Rao Pawar should not resign from ministership.

“I do not want to interfere in the work of the Election Commission,” he said.

Mr. Pawar is in the judicial custody for allegedly threatening a lady returning officer in Dewas district.

About the Congress’ accusation that his government was the most corrupt regime of the state, he said the previous Congress rule had broken all records on this issue. PTI
