ISB to come up in Punjab

Chandigarh: The Punjab Government on Wednesday signed an agreement with leading corporates for setting up Indian School of Business in Mohali near here.

The agreement was signed by Secretary (Education) Anjali Bhawra on behalf of the Punjab Government and Rajat Gupta on behalf of ISB along with four founder supporters — Analjit Singh of Max India, Rakesh Bharti Mittal of Bharti Enterprises, Sunil Munjal of Hero Corporate Services and Atul Punj of Punj Lloyd.

The institute would be established under public-private partnership model whereby the State Government would lease out 70 acres of land at Knowledge City in Mohali for 99 years at one rupee per acre annually to ISB, a spokesperson of the Punjab Government said.

The institute will also have four specialised institutes called Centres of Excellence for promoting research.

The first academic session is expected to begin in 2012. The campus proposes to have 280 seats in its PG management programme and 750 seats in its executive education programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal hoped it would foster quality education in the State.

The ISB will offer the one-year PG Programme in Management at Mohali with additional specialisations in Healthcare Management, Manufacturing Sciences, Public Policy and Physical Infrastructure Management among others. — PTI
