ABVP calls for bandh today
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishat (ABVP) has declared a nation-wide bandh in colleges across the country on Wednesday.
Urging both the State and Union Government to oust Bangladeshi nationals and protesting the growing phenomena of Bangladeshi infiltration, the ABVP Karnataka unit has pledged its support to the nation-wide campaign.
Nearly 75 per cent colleges have volunteered to support the cause and shut shop for the day, a press release issued by the ABVP claimed.
However, sources both in the Department of Pre-University Education and Bangalore University said that there was no official co-operation extended from their side. “All colleges will function as usual and we have not issued any orders to close,” Sanjay Vir Singh, Registrar of Bangalore University told The Hindu. Technical and professional colleges will also function as usual.
