Malegaon arrests only to defame Hindus: VHP
HYDERABAD: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday alleged that the UPA government had arrested Sadhvi Pragnya Singh and Lt.Col Prasad Shrikant Puruhit in connection with the Malegaon blast only to ‘defame Hindus and appease Muslims’.
At a press conference here, VHP Andhra Pradesh Paschim vice-president Lakshminatha Charyulu, secretary G. Durgaiah and legal cell convener P. Pratap criticised the authorities for portraying those taken into custody as ‘Hindu terrorists’. They said though nothing had come out from narco analysis tests conducted on the sadhvi and the officer, the police were repeating them in a bid to extract forcible confessions.
To protest against this harassment, the VHP would organise dharnas in all districts next week and send SMSes and e-mails on November 20 or 21.
Women members would perform yagnas seeking protection from ‘jehadi’ terrorists and suppression by the government.
Jamiat criticised
The VHP leaders criticised the Jamiat conference for not discussing why more Muslims were getting involved in terrorist activities.
