Prachanda: will return seized properties

Prerana Marasini

Pushpa Kamal Dahal

KATHMANDU: Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) on Tuesday reiterated his commitment to implement the past agreements the CPN (Maoist) had agreed to. “Properties confiscated during the conflict and afterwards will be returned,” he said in the Constituent Assembly (CA) on Tuesday. “This is our recommitment,” he added.

The properties, including land and buildings, would be returned in a month, he said. Mr. Prachanda was responding to the nine-point demand submitted by the Nepali Congress on (NC) Sunday.

Also, leaders of political parties cannot have ‘dual security’, he said. A month ago, a Maoist CA entered the CA premises with his armed bodyguard, following which the NC obstructed the proceedings. “The government will also give continuity to the tradition of gathering political consensus to take any decision regarding the peace process,” said Mr. Prachanda.
