CPI (M) condemns Congress, BJP

NEW DELHI: Having decided to extend general support to the Bahujan Samaj Party in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the CPI (M) -- which is contesting just four seats -- released its manifesto on Tuesday.

Accusing the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party of following “pro-rich” policies, the party’s manifesto condemns the mainstream parties for widening inequality and price rise as also for failing to provide relief to the poor and the working class in the city.

On the PDS, Delhi CPI (M) secretary P.M.S. Grewal said: “Fifty-three per cent of wheat and 25 per cent of sugar earmarked for the PDS in Delhi are stolen.” The manifesto accuses the Sheila Dikshit Government of not building a single low-cost housing unit for two decades while “prior to the elections the Congress had announced a low-cost housing scheme”.

Citing a decrease in the number of DTC-run buses, increase in power tariff and power cuts and the move to privatise the Delhi Jal Board as “flawed policies” of the Congress Government, the CPI (M) also criticised the Bhagidari scheme.
