ABVP to observe ‘college bandh’ today

Karwar: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) will observe a nation-wide “college bandh” on November 12 under the banner “oust Bangladeshi intruders and save Chicken Neck”, State ABVP secretary P.M. Ravichandra said on Monday.

Addressing presspersons here, he said district-level rallies would be held across the country to raise awareness among the people on the threat posed by Bangladeshi intruders. Listing out the demands of the ABVP, he said the Bangladeshis should be removed from the electoral roll of the country.

A time-bound programme should be formulated for the purpose. Indo-Bangla border should be fenced to stop infiltration. A stringent law should be formulated to contain terrorism, he added.

The Union Government should initiate action to stop criminal activities in border areas.

It should pressure the Bangladesh Government to take back the illegal immigrants. Those who had sneaked into India from Bangladesh had become a threat to the security of the country, Mr. Ravichandra said.

He said Chicken Neck comprised Panjiphand, Gaisal, Dhanatola, Gajaria, etc. which were dominated by Muslims. These places had become a haven for terrorists, he added.

District unit secretary of ABVP Raghavendra Naik, and leaders Vinayak Hegde and Prasad Kamat were present.
