Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: In an attempt to benefit the unemployed belonging to all social groups, the State government has decided to relax the upper age limit by five years across the board for all categories. The age relaxation will cover four specific recruitments to be undertaken by Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) to fill 4,350 vacancies. The order providing for this relaxation will be issued by the government on Wednesday, S. Balasubramaniam, secretary (Services) said here on Tuesday.

The five-year age relaxation has also been allowed to open category candidates for the first time. With this, their upper age limit for these specific recruitments of the APPSC has been raised from 34 to 39 years. In case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Backward Classes, the upper age limit has been enhanced to 44 years from the present 39 years and for the physically-challenged to 49 years from 44.

Mr. Balasubramaniam said recruitments would be undertaken by the APPSC with this five-year age relaxation to fill 4,350 vacancies.
