Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: Lieutenant Colonel Srikant Prasad Purohit and former Army officer Ramesh Upadhyay, accused in September 29 Malegaon blasts, were subjected to narco analysis at the Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital here on Sunday and Monday.

Both the accused were asked several questions related to the blasts, including some pertaining to the statements made by Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur under narco analysis.

“The accused were escorted by the officials of Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). Based on the questionnaires prepared by the ATS officials, we conducted tests. Ramesh Yadav was subjected to test on Sunday while Lt. Col. Purohit was subjected to the test on Monday. To corroborate the statements of Sadhvi Pragya Singh, the duo were subjected to narco tests,” said a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) official who was not willing to be quoted.

A local court in Maharashtra’s Nashik remanded the accused in police custody till November 15.

It had also given permission to conduct the narco analysis. The paramedical staff of the Bowring Hospital assisted the FSL staff in conducting tests.
