Kochi: The government has filed a defamation case before the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court against P.C. George, MLA, for making allegations against Industries Minister Elamaram Karim in connection with the proposal to revive the Perumbavoor-based Travancore Rayons Limited. In the complaint, the government said the statement made by Mr. George had lowered the image of the government as well as Mr. Kareem among the public. He had made totally unfounded allegations. The statements were per se defamatory and had harmed the reputation of the government and the Minister. When the complaint came up for hearing, the sessions court issued summons to Mr. George and posted the case to December 10.
