Civic polls: State told to file counter
Legal Correspondent
HYDERABAD: A Division Bench of the High Court comprising Chief Justice A.R. Dave and Justice R. Subhash Reddy on Monday asked the State government to file a counter affidavit explaining the amount of time needed for the government to conduct elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
The Bench was dealing with a writ petition filed by K. Srinivasa Rao of the TDP’s legal cell. He complained that because of the failure to hold the elections on time the special officer was taking major decisions.
He said that the officers could not have entered into an agreement regarding the Metro Rail and hence all these may be stopped.
