Man jumps before Metro train, dies
NEW DELHI: A 57-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a Delhi Metro train at Janakpuri here on Monday.
Devender Kumar Gupta of Vikaspuri jumped in front of the train when it was approaching Janakpuri (West) station around noon, said Delhi Metro spokesperson Anuj Dayal.
The train operator applied emergency brakes, but the train ran over him.
Train operations were affected on the Dwarka-Indraprastha line for about ten minutes in the wake of the incident.
“Devender worked with a bank and had recently taken voluntary retirement. He was undergoing treatment for depression,” said Mr. Dayal.
