Chelsea back on top
LONDON: Chelsea gave Luiz Felipe Scolari the perfect birthday present as the Blues returned to the top of the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Blackburn on Sunday.
Less than 24 hours after being knocked out of first place by Liverpool, Scolari’s side was back in pole position thanks to Nicolas Anelka’s double-strike.
The results: Aston Villa 1 (Sidwell 37) lost to Middlesbrough 2 (Sanli 34, 88); Blackburn 0 lost to Chelsea 2 (Anelka 39, 68); Manchester City 1 (Robinho 16) lost to Tottenham 2 (Bent 29, 64); Fulham 2 (Johnson 23, Murphy 66-pen) bt Newcastle 1 (Ameobi 57). — AFP
