Parish pleased with response

BANGALORE: Basketball coaches from the State had a taste of NBA’s professional training methods as Robert Parish kicked off a three-day programme at the Sree Kanteerava Indoor Stadium here on Monday.

Parish, who spent good part of session on the court with hands-on training, said, “I am happy with the response and interest shown by coaches here. The game has huge potential and India sure can produce a good crop of players.”

About 80 coaches attended the first day’s session.

The coaches clinic was inaugurated by Mr. Vittal Murthy, IAS, Secretary to Government, Youth Services & Sports, Government of Karnataka. Shri K. Govindraj, Hon. Secretary, Karnataka State Basketball Association and President, Karnataka Olympic Association and Mr. Akash Jain, Director, NBA, USA, also attended the function.
