NEW DELHI: Thirty Tamil Sangams across the country have floated the Federation of All India Tamil Sangams for developing Tamil language, art and literature. Chairman of the Law Commission of India Justice A.R. Lakshmanan inaugurated the Federation at the Delhi Tamil Sangam (DTS) on Sunday. He highlighted the rich cultural heritage of Tamil and said everyone should strive for nurturing the language further and also work for the cause of Tamils not only in the country but across the globe. Sowmya Anbumani, wife of Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss, lauded the efforts of the DTS in bringing together all Tamil associations under one umbrella. Tiruppur Krishnan, Editor of Tamil monthly Amudasurabi urged the Federation to carry out research in ancient literature. M.N. Krishnamani, who was unanimously elected the first president of the Federation, said it was planned to start music and dance college in the capital shortly. The Federation passed a resolution expressing concern over the killing of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka and urging the Indian government to persuade Sri Lanka to announce immediate ceasefire and hold peace talks with Tamil groups.
