Three-day Krishi Mela from Thursday

Bangalore: The University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore, will hold a four-day Krishi Mela from November 13 to showcase the latest agricultural technologies and the work of the university in the field.
Vice-Chancellor of the university P.G. Chengappa told presspersons here on Monday that the objective of the mela was to create awareness among farmers through demonstrations and exhibitions. Over three lakh farmers from across Karnataka and neighbouring States were expected to participate in the event, he added. The university would exhibit the recently developed crop varieties and demonstrate various technologies, he said..
Minister for Agriculture S.A. Ravindranath would inaugurate the mela. Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa would honour successful farmers and women farmers selected from 17 districts that come under the jurisdiction of the university on November 15.
