Thiruvananthapurm: Students of Savio Higher Secondary School in Devagiri, Kozhikode, have emerged winners in an essay-writing competition organised by the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) in connection with Vigilance Awareness Week. J. Anjali and B. Karthika of Savio Higher Secondary School bagged the first and second prizes in the contest. The topic for the essay was ‘Public interest disclosure and protection of informer.’ In the competition for staff of IISR, the first and second prizes in slogan-writing in English went to A. Chandrasekhar and P Jigeeshu. A. Riju and C.K. Thankamani were the first and second prize-winners in slogan-writing in Malayalam and M.M. Augusthy and Utpala Parthasarathy came first and second in slogan-writing in Hindi. The prizes were distributed on Monday. M. Anandaraj, project coordinator (spices) and B. Krishnamoorthi, head of the crop improvement division, spoke.
