For young songbirds

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: Ananya, a not-for-profit cultural organisation, will hold “Hadu Hakki Habba, a fresh approach for children who wish to appreciate and learn Carnatic music, from November 23.

A festival that uses a fun-filled approach to fulfil its aim, Hadu Hakki Habba, emerged from a 19-episode series that was aired on all All India Radio (AIR) across Karnataka, supported by a grant from the India Foundation for Arts. The series was designed as simple and interactive, to present children with an overview of Carnatic music, and was also accompanied by articles for children in Ananya’s monthly magazine “Ananya Abhivyatki”.Activities including essays, collage, quiz, games, group events, presentations and interactions with senior musicians based on Carnatic music will be part of the festival — a fitting finale to the episode series.

All the episodes of Hadu Hakki aired on AIR will be released as a set of 10 CDs at the festival. The first in line is the essay competition to be held on November 23, and the main festival comprising other events such as quiz and interactions with musicians will be held on the following weekend at Seva Sadana in Malleswaram.

Participation is open to those studying between Classes 5 and 10 and they must send in their applications by November 20. For further details, call 9845287173 or 9980959759.
