Minister underscores need for master plan to develop Brahmamgari Matham

KADAPA: Karnataka Revenue Minister Gali Karunakar Reddy unveiled a 20-foot statue of saint-fortune teller Sri Pothuluri Veera Brahmendra Swamy, on his 400th birth anniversary on Monday at Brahmamgari Matham.

Recalling that he was a believer in Veera Brahmendra Swamy since childhood, Mr. Karunakar Reddy underscored the need for preparing a master plan to develop Brahmamgari Matham, a renowned pilgrim centre.

Support

He assured his support to any developmental activities to be undertaken in the Math. Popularly known as Brahmamgaru, the seer was born on November 10, 1608.

The swamy who forecast the future centuries ahead, championed the cause of the poorer sections, preached against superstitions and advocated gender equality and had a large following of devotees cutting across religious barriers, the Minister said. He lauded industrialist Chukkaluru Viswanatha Reddy who put up the large statue costing about Rs. 20 lakh.

Sri Veerabhoga Vasantha Venkateswara Swamiji, Mathadhipathi of Sri Pothuri Veera Brahmendra Swamy Math, blessed the Minister and his spouse. Mydukur MLA D.L. Ravindra Reddy, TTD Board member C. Satyanarayana Naidu and Math manager Vallamkondu Penchalaiah received the Minister and priests welcomed the guests with temple honours. Mr. Karunakar Reddy and his spouse offered special prayers.

The Karnataka Minister released a compact disc on the seer’s life history and released a journal ‘Viswakarma Tejaswini’.

Large number of devotees thronged the Math and free ‘anna danam’ was arranged for them.
