HYDERABAD: A confident Hyderabad, having garnered three points from its previous match against Orissa, is all keyed up to take on Delhi in the Ranji Trophy Super League match at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium here from Monday. Hyderabad’s batsmen, particularly Ravi Teja, Anoop Pai and Abinav Kumar put up a gritty performance in the previous contest and will be again expected to lead the challenge against a strong Delhi outfit. Coach upbeatHyderabad coach Kanwaljit Singh was in an upbeat mood on his team’s chances. “We played very well against Orissa in the previous match and I am happy with the form my players have displayed. “It was a seaming track with the ball moving about considerably, but our batsmen applied themselves to the task and did what was required of them. I expect that they will be able to perform well in this match also, especially since we are now on our home ground and have a pitch which we are familiar with,” he said. Motivated playersHe felt that the team had a good bunch of young and highly motivated players who were eager to make a mark for themselves and this augured well for the state. According to Kanwaljit the strip is a good one for batting and the home team batsmen should be able to put up a big total. However, he said that Delhi should not be taken lightly. The visiting side which went through a practice session at the stadium this morning has a youthful look with a few new names. According to coach Vijay Dahiya the side would prefer to bat first if it won the toss and is likely to go into the match with two seamers and two spinners. Delhi will depend on Ashish Nehra, Pradeep Sangwan, Chetanya Nanda and Narinder Singh to fetch it the breakthroughs. Sangwan’s penetrative bowling caught the eye in the team’s previous outing. The batting too seems to be in good nick going by the performances of Aakash Chopra, Shikhar Dhawan and others in the earlier match.
