Two held in murder case

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Two men were arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old man at his house in Parry’s Corner on Saturday.

The deceased, Rajendran of Thambu Chetty Street, was found dead with stab injuries . Police identified the accused as Manivel alias Muniya (32) and his friend Jeeva alias Sami (52).

The police had questioned Manivel’s mother-in-law Devaki (60), who was staying for 17 years in a building acquired by Rajendran two years ago. Two months ago, Manivel, his wife Rani and Jeeva, had forcefully moved into the portion where Devaki was staying. The police said that Manivel claimed ownership of the portion of the building as Devaki had been staying there for several years. This annoyed Rajendran and there were regular arguments between him and Manivel’s family.
