Carving a niche for herself
Staff Reporter
Bangalore: Young Priyanka Daga did her bit to wire India into the global fashion design circuit this year. A final year Textile Design student at the Srishti School of Art, Design and Technology here, she was India’s only representative at the second Jiahai Cup International Fashion Design Grand Prix 2008 at Wuhan, China.
Ms. Daga took her collection of three garments with accessories, which made use of alternative and contemporary materials, to the contest. Her work was selected from over 1,200 submissions received from 60 different fashion design institutions from around the world. She was one of the 30 finalists in the competition, which consisted of 20 finalists from China and 10 others from other parts of the world.
