MADURAI: There is an interesting coincidence that the Directors of the three wings of the Health Department passed out of the same medical college.

The Madurai Medical College is the alma mater of S. Vinayagam, Director of Medical Education; S. Elango, Director of Public Health; and P. Nandagopal Samy, Director of Medical Services.

Taking note of it, the Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association organised a felicitation on Sunday for the Directors, by bringing them together at the Government Rajaji Hospital. “It is for the first time that the Madurai Medical College is seeing this combination at a same time. So, we thought it would be nice to felicitate them,” said K. Senthil, secretary of the association. Doctors of the Government Rajaji Hospital and Primary Health Centres interacted with the Directors. The association also highlighted its demands: improving the library and the other infrastructure at the Madurai Medical College, which was established in 1954.
