SIRSI: Anantkumar Hegde, MP, said on Saturday that steps should be taken to help artisans in rural areas to market their products. ExhibitionMr. Hegde was participating in “Beru-Baduku” handicrafts exhibition at the residence of Manjunath Hegde at Hudlamane village near Sirsi. Mr. Hegde said that there was a plan to launch “Great Kanara Trail” to promote eco-tourism in Uttara Kannada district. There will be a rural route from the Jog Falls to Castle Rock where tourists could enjoy the rural culture and handicrafts, Mr. Hegde said. Journalist Ashok Hasyagar inaugurated the handicrafts exhibition. GalleriesHe said that there should be galleries in the cities showcasing items made by artisans from rural areas. Shivanand Kalave, Shrinivas Balegadde, Devagudi, and Vijayanalini Ramesh spoke on the occasion. Narendra Hegde welcomed the gathering. Manjunath Bhat conducted the programme.
