BERHAMPUR: Ganjam district Collector ordered the revenue officials to settle matters like mutation and land encroachment cases within 45 days. The Collector, V.K. Pandian during the review meeting of the Revenue Department held at Chatrapur on Friday felt delay in settlement of these cases was leading to many irregularities. He asked the revenue inspectors and tehsildars to investigate and settle mutation and encroachment cases so that valuable government land was not misused. He also asked them to make on the spot investigation rather than writing up reports from their offices. He cited examples where land of canals had been transformed to homestead land. A special squad has been formed in the district to monitor such irregularities. As per the Collector, grave irregularities by revenue officials may lead to police action against them. ‘Meet the targets’According to him, people of many areas did not have faith in the revenue inspectors and tehsildars in many areas of the district. He directed the revenue officials to fulfil the target of distribution of caste and residence certificates to the school children at their schools. Till now 18,000 certificates have been distributed while the target is to distribute 20,000 certificates.
