Sachin sparkles

HYDERABAD: Sachin scored 158 as Bhavans HS beat Model Mission HS by 342 runs in the HCA under-14 inter-school cricket tournament on Saturday.

The scores:

U-14 inter-schools: Bhavans HS 394 (Sachin 158, Teja three for 44) bt Model Mission HS 52 (Shubam three for 22, Janardhan four for 13, Hari Shankar three for seven).

Boys Town 142 (Syed Ahmed 32, Zubaid Ahmed 30, Mohit Agarwal three for 23) bt Mahesh Vidya Bhavan 126 (B. Srikanth 40, Shaik Maroof Malik three for 13).

A-Div (two-day matches): Amberpet 251 (Vishal 66, Narsingh 55, Neeraj Kumar six for 73, Venkat three for 71) lost to Sporting XI 254 for one (Balakrishna 173 not out, Anil Kumar 66).

A-Div (Institutions): APCS 282 for four (Krishna 45, C.V. Anand 118 not out, Subramanyam 64) bt Canara Bank 128 for nine (B. Vikas 32, P. Naveen six for 27).

FCI 132 for nine (Satyanarayana three for 45, Musharaf Khan four for 17) lost to Indian Airlines 135 for seven (Musharaf Khan 38, Satish 30).

Kiran is Mr. Osmania

M. Kiran Kumar of Wesley Degree College, winner of the gold in the 70kg weight category, was adjudged ‘Mr. Osmania University’ in the Osmania University body-building championship on Saturday.

Arpana wins gold

G. Arpana of Hyderabad Public School (Ramanthapur) won the gold in the 800m event in the u-19 girls’ category at the CBSE Cluster VII athletics meet, organised by VRS & Vignana Jyothi Residential School, at Bachupally near here.

The results (winners):

Girls: Under-19: 800m: G. Arpana (HPS, Ramanthapur); Shot put: Akshita (Chirec).

Boys: Under-16: Shot put: K. Nikhil (VRS & VJRS); Long jump: T.R. Avinash (Maharshi Vidya Mandir).

Fareed nets winner

State Bank of Hyderabad defeated Bolarum Sporting 1-0 in the SAAP-Budweiser premier league football championship on Saturday. Mohd. Fareed scored the winner in the 55th minute.

Bolarum goalie Naidu put up a good display to keep the rivals at bay for a major portion of the match.

Diana at the helm

Diana David will lead the Hyderabad women’s cricket team in the south zone inter-state limited overs cricket tournament to be played at Anantapur from November 21 to 28.
