PUDUCHERRY: Tamil Nadu Local Administration Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday said that the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam youth wing will take all steps to create awareness of the contributions of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai to Tamil society and his role in shaping the destiny of Tamil Nadu, among students. Speaking at a function organised by the Puducherry unit of the DMK as part of Annadurai’s birth centenary celebrations, he said that the youth wing should carry forward the principles for which the former Chief Minister stood. “It should be your endeavour to spread his ideals among the present generation.” The youth wing would utilise the funds contributed by various district units for taking up educational needs of the underprivileged students, Mr. Stalin said. Complimenting the youth wing for taking up the birth centenary celebrations in a befitting manner, Rajya Sabha member Kanimozhi said that Annadurai had a unique way of expressing his views without hurting the sentiments of others. Annadurai was instrumental in spreading the concept of federalism and autonomy for States, even when it was in its nascent stage in the country, she said. The Puducherry unit of the DMK and the youth wing contributed Rs. 10 lakh to Mr. Stalin towards the trust.
