Students take out protest march

Staff Correspondent

HUBLI: A large number of students took out a protest march under the aegis of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishat here on Saturday to protest against the “Government’s apathy” towards checking infiltration of illegal Bangladeshis.

The students marched from Vidyanagar to the Indira Glass House, after passing through the thoroughfares of the city. A public meeting was held at the Glass House.

Addressing the gathering, ABVP State organising secretary N. Ravikumar alleged that approximately 3.8 crore illegal Bangladeshis were living in the country.

Hesitant

He alleged that politicians were hesitant to take action against them.

Mr. Ravikumar said that according to a rough estimate, there were 3,000 villages inhabited by Bangladeshi infiltrators in Assam but the Union Government had failed to take any action about it.

Jitendra Majethia, Virendra Damaji, Viresh Balikai and others participated in the meeting. Mahendra Kautal, Krishna Bidralli, Srinivas Homkar and others led the protest march.
