Varied fare welcomes visitors to Rajasthan Craft Fair

Spoilt for choice: Visitors making their choice from colourful bangles displayed at the Rajasthan Craft Fair in Puducherry.

PUDUCHERRY: From hand-printed bed sheets, wall hangings, silk saris to black metal statues, antique items and wood carvings, the Rajasthan Craft Fair offers a range of handlooms, handicrafts and jewellery from various parts of the country.

The handloom and handicraft exhibition of Rajasthan Hasta Kala Samithi opened on November 5.

The objective of the exhibition was to provide a platform to educated but unemployed artisans and also preserve, promote the traditional heritage of India, said a press release.

The various handloom products available at the fair included Rajasthan bed sheet, cushion cover, divan set, Pochampalli bed sheet, Banjara bags, purses, wall hangings, letter holder, Oriya saris, Bomkai silk and Tassar silk, Rajasthan hand printed tops and dress materials, Hyderabad cotton and silk saris, Mangalgiri tops, Jaipur block printed kurtas for men, Aplic work dress materials and Benaras zari works.

Apart from these, Jaipur silk painting, velvet, canvas, and gems stone paintings, Rajasthan antique finish, Saharanpur wood carvings, palm leaves engraving, Tassar silk paintings, blue pottery cups, bowl sets, plant pots, mugs, black metal statues, Chettinad antique items, Bengal terracotta statues, brass statues and Tanjore paintings are available at the fair.

The craft fair is on at S.S. Thirumana Nilayam, S.V. Patel Salai till Novermber 16.
