South Zone wins title

VISAKHAPATNAM: South Zone won the Andhra Cricket Association senior women’s inter-zone tournament at Kakinada by topping the table, thanks to the bonus-point win it scored over North Zone in the first match.

All the three teams tied with one win each after North Zone defeated Central Zone by four wickets in the last round-robin match on Friday. Savitha Kumari claimed two wickets and scored 39 runs for North while Ramalakshmi (29) and P. Vineela (three wickets) impressed for Central. ACA will conduct selection matches on Nov. 9 and 10 among probables selected from the three teams.

The scores: Central Zone 125 for eight in 50 overs (Ramalakshmi 29) lost to North Zone 126 for six in 43.1 overs (M. Savitha Kumari 39, P. Vineela three for 29). — Special Correspondent
