KOCHI: Geeno Antony of VSSC Central School, Thumba (Thiruvananthapuram) broke the two-year-old under-16 boys’ 1,500m meet record at the State CBSE schools athletics championship here on Friday, with a time of 4:34.9 secs. A little later, Geeno’s school-mate Reshma Sara Raji won the under-19 girls’ long jump hands down.
The winners: Boys’ under-19: Long jump: Cyril K. Simon (Viswadeepthi CMI PS, Adimali) 6.27m. Discus throw: R. Shankar (Chinmaya, Vaduthala) 29.92m. Under-16: 1,500m: Geeno Antony (VSSC Central School, Tvm) 4:34.9s NMR, OR John Baby Joseph, Fatima Central School, Piravom, 4:41.7. High jump: V. S. Sohail (Chinmaya, Vaduthala) 1.59m. Under-14: Long jump: Manik Biswas (Labour India, Marungattupilly) 5.56m. Discus throw: Sathya Prakash Mishra (Sri Sathya Sai Vidyapeeth, Kzd) 32.94m. Girls’ under-19: 1,500m: Minumol P.
