KORAPUT: Several innocent persons may lose their lives for no fault of theirs if the government goes on with its proposed plan to hand over the health services in Koraput district to ayurvedic and homeopathy doctors, Bharadwaj Mishra, branch secretary, Orissa Medical Services Association (OMSA), said in a press meet here on Friday. While the medical services were extended in the district through 61 allopathic doctors, management with 47 ayush doctors having almost no medicine of their original stream of treatment with them, might cause serious problems for the tribal poor patients in getting even the basic minimum health services from November 9 when all the allopathic doctors would stop coming to hospital, he said. Expressing the united strength of doctors in the branch to fight against the State government’s move to take action against the doctors using special laws, he said that the members were determined to go for mass arrest if anyone of them faced the action from the government. The doctors had already resigned to their posts condemning the dismissal of the three doctors in Kalingnagar and demanding provision of security while on duty. All the doctors from the district headquarters hospital were also present.
