Power cut

DAVANGERE: Power supply was disrupted here on Wednesday for over 12 hours. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company, which resorted to an abrupt power cut from 5 a.m. did not restore electricity till even 3 p.m. The BESCOM authorities said power supply might be restored at 6 p.m. Owing to this, many business establishments such hotels, bakeries and industries were not able to function properly. Some BESCOM officials, who requested anonymity, said Davangere’s power requirements for each day was 175 mw, whereas BESCOM had given only 37 mw. They said there was a great mismatch between demand and supply and they had no other choice but to disrupt electricity.
