Vasikaran passes away

Chennai: V. Vasikaran, a brother of Olympian V. Bhaskaran, died on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 54.

A mid-fielder who represented the State in three National hockey championships between 1974 and 1976, and later qualified as a National level umpire, Vasikaran had been ailing for a couple of years.

His other brother, V. Jeyasekaran, died last Friday following a heart attack.

Vasikaran is surived by his wife and a son.
