U.P. agriculture varsity VC quits
Lucknow: Chandrashekhar Azad Agriculture University Vice-Chancellor V.K. Suri, who last month shut the campus doors on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, tendered his resignation on Tuesday.
The resignation has been accepted by Governor T.V. Rajeshwar in his capacity as Chancellor, a Raj Bhavan official confirmed.
The Governor earlier sought the Vice-Chancellor’s explanation, while many senior officials hinted that certain senior functionaries of the Mayawati government had asked Dr. Suri not to allow Mr. Gandhi to hold a scheduled interaction with students on the campus in Kanpur.
Dr. Suri was not available for comment. — IANS
