CPI (M) seeks probe into police firing
CHENNAI: The State committee of the CPI (M) on Tuesday demanded a judicial inquiry into the police firing in Ezhumalai village in Madurai district, in which a Dalit youth was killed and two others were injured.
CPI (M) State secretary N. Varadarajan, in a statement alleged that instead of finding an amicable solution by holding discussions with the protesters, the police behaved in a high-handed manner. He said the confrontation between cadres of the Puthiya Tamilagam led by K. Krishnasamy and another section on November 2 could have been averted if the police had provided adequate protection. The party cadres staged a road roko on Tuesday to condemn the November 2 incident, which resulted in police firing. — Special Correspondent
