Special Correspondent

CHANDIGARH: Farmers in Haryana are jubilant over the Centre’s decision to declare the Pusa-1121 variety of paddy as “Basmati”, Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda said after visiting a Kisan Mela in Bahadurgarh on Tuesday.

The farmers present at the mela passed a resolution expressing their gratitude to Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for the concerted efforts made by him to get this variety declared as “Basmati”.

Mr. Deepender Singh, who is the son of the Chief Minister, addressed the farmers and hailed the decision of the Central Government as it would immensely benefit the farming community in Haryana.
