Kala Prathibotsava begins

Over 200 children participate in the event

MYSORE: Kala Prathibotsava, a two-day talent search programme organised by the Department of Kannada and Culture got of to a rousing start with over 200 children vying with each other for the Bala Pratibhe and Kishore Pratibhe titles.

An annual event conducted at the district level, the focus of the various competitions is on the art and culture of the region. And, if the response and presentations of the tiny tots are any indication, the culture and fine arts of Mysore are indeed in safe hands of the new generation. Not only was their mastery over the subtle nuances of their art form complete, the participants also put up a splendid show with élan devoid of any stage fear.

Be it classical music or sugama sangeetha, Janapada Geethe or mono acting, the children were outstanding in their performances. Three youngsters will be selected and will qualify for the State-level contest. Similarly, another talent hunt programme was held at Sarada Vilas College which was attended by over 1,000 students. Titled Pratibha Karanji, it was organised by the Zilla Panchayat and the Department of Public Instruction. There were 21 events including fancy dress competition, quiz, dance, clay modelling and drawing
