NEW DELHI: A day after Rashtrawadi Sena activists vandalised Maharashtra Sadan here in protest against the recent attacks on north Indians in Maharashtra, the Delhi police on Tuesday arrested its chief Jai Bhagwan Goyal on charges of criminal conspiracy. Mr. Goyal was arrested in the afternoon when he came to the Patiala House court in connection with the bail of his supporters arrested on Monday for their alleged role in the attack. “He had owned up responsibility for the attack in the media and was arrested for criminal conspiracy. He has been sent to judicial custody till November 18. He, was, however, not present during the attack on the Sadan. A total of six persons have been arrested so far in this connection,” said a senior police officer. Over two-dozen activists of the Rashtrawadi Sena had indulged in violence at the Sadan on Monday, seeking the immediate arrest of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray for attacks on north Indians. The protesters hurled flowerpots and broke windowpanes of the Sadan, demanding that Raj Thackeray be arrested under the National Security Act.
